I'm very excited to have a special guest on the blog today: Megan McMichael, owner and founder of Mandala Mamas in the Okanagan. I've gotten to know Megan over the last year and have had the opportunity to photograph some of her prenatal classes. As someone who didn't know much about prenatal yoga, I wanted to share some of the benefits from these classes. There are so many reasons why women choose to practice yoga during their pregnancy. To name a few:
⠀
Improve sleep⠀
Reduce stress⠀
Increase strength, flexibility + endurance⠀
Decrease lower back pain⠀
Decrease nausea⠀
Connect with other mamas in the community⠀
Focused time to connect with baby⠀
Time to relax + unwind
Below are Megan's top 3 reasons for promoting and suggesting yoga for expecting mamas.⠀

MOVEMENT
Yoga is a safe, gentle and grounding practice for baby growing mamas. Pairing breath with movement helps build body awareness and acceptance, creating deeper connection with a transforming body. Prenatal classes are designed to strengthen the muscles used in labor, to stretch muscles that get stiff and sore from lack of mobility and to encourage rest & relaxation.

CONNECTION
Yoga offers a calm & relaxing opportunity to connect inward. Connecting with a deep, full & expansive breath. Connecting with your growing babe and most importantly, connecting with your authentic self.

COMMUNITY
Build your mama community and connect with other women navigating their personal pregnancy journey. All classes include 30 mins of conscious conversation and the likelihood of making a new mom friend.

Mandala Mamas offers Prenatal Yoga, Baby + Me Yoga and Yoga in Kelowna and West Kelowna. 4 week punch pass or drop in option available. An accepting space for mamas to connect and find community. Contact Megan for more information on her available classes.
