There's a first for everything. You have to start somewhere right? So here it is, the first blog post. In case you haven't have the chance to scroll through the rest of the website, I'll give you a quick summary of me and what I do: Radio Producer by day, Photographer by night. I live in the Okaganan (Peachland) with my husband, dog, cat and guinea pig. Like most photographers, I've always had an interest in photography. However, I could never bring myself to spend the money on a good camera.

The first Christmas together in 2014 when my husband and I were dating, he got me my first DSLR. Needless to say I cried, I couldn't believe it. From then on I was obsessed with learning everything photography related. I didn't know what I wanted to focus on so I captured what-ever I could. Working in radio gave me a wonderful opportunity to try concert photography. Living in Northern Alberta at the time, the Northern Lights introduced me to astrophotography. And being from BC, it only made sense that I love capturing the landscapes. Fast forward to 2017. I decide to take my photography more seriously, rather than thinking of it as a hobby. I take the leap and decide to do more portraits, start a side business and sell some prints.
So why have I started a blog and what am I going to do with it? I started this because I want to connect more with people who are interested in my work and what I do. I want to be able to share more photos from sessions or share things that I feel are important but won't fit into the portfolio galleries. My husband also has a little series he calls "Picture of a Picture Taker Taking a Picture" where he basically takes a behind the scene photo while I work. I think it would be fun to showcase what he sees me doing, while also showing what I created at the same time. I'll also throw in some informational kind of posts regarding photography and things you could benefit knowing. I plan to send out a monthly newsletter with highlights from the month, so if you've done a session with me you could very well be in it! If you're interested in receiving those you can find the info at the bottom of the page.
I'll wrap up for now but I hope that gives some insight into my plans for this blog. I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me as I continue to grow my business and I hope you'll join along for the ride!
